Papercraft - Your Number One Fan by JackOfMostTrades Papercraft - Your Number One Fan by JackOfMostTrades
:iconscootplz::iconsaysplz: Hey Rainbow Dash! Have I mentioned today that I'm your #1 fan? Say, while I'm here you want to, uhhhhh, hang out or something?

While this probably bears some similarity to one of my earlier works, it's actually inspired by an unrelated deviation by ~ForsakenSharikan (which itself was inspired by work by *RaunchyOpposition).

Most of all though, this is the first papercraft I've done since I moved to Argentina for my semester abroad. I didn't bring any materials with me, but when I decided that I was going to have plenty of free time to keep pursuing hobbies while I'm here, I spent a week scouring art shops for supplies. There are some imperfections resulting from my unfamiliarity with the new tools and reduced collection of colors, but overall I'm pleased with how well this one came out. Hopefully this means I'll be able to create a few more good papercrafts before I get back to the USA.

Finding a frame was also a bit of an arduous task (there aren't any framing stores that I found, so I mostly had to just browse a bunch of random shops), but in the end I'm pretty pleased with the frame with which I ended up.

I had the honor of seeing the original artwork at PoniCon. It's amazing!

And it was great meeting you too. :)

Thanks! I've mostly just shared pictures of my work online, so it was great being able to show off something in person while I was here. And PoniCon was tons of fun! It was great meeting you and so many other amazing people! I hope I'll get to hang out with you some more while I'm in Argentina.

Me too. :) Not only is your art amazing, but it was also great to finally meet someone who can understand what my thesis is about! :D

What brand of cardstock do you use for these?
JackOfMostTrades Featured By Owner Mar 14, 2013
For this one in particular I used Fabriano paper, which is definitely high quality paper and was available in a lot of colors at the local art stores (if you count, I think there are about 20 different colors used in this one work). However, it's also more expensive than cardstock I've used in my other papercrafts, for which I've generally used Canson cardstock since my local art store at home sells individual 8.5"x11" sheets for about $0.55 each.

Very nice! I can see some of the imperfections you mentioned, but I had to go looking for them. Overall this is really impressive! I've never been able to get such nice curves whenever I tried to cut paper, either with scissors or a knife.
